Red Reserve have secured a place at DreamHack Open Valencia after defeating LDLC 2-1 in the grand final of the European closed qualifier.
Red Reserve began their quest for a spot in Valencia by beating both Gux & Friends and Outlaws by 2-0 scorelines. As for LDLC, they reached the grand final of the eight-team qualifier after edging past Org Incoming on three maps and beating Space Soldiers on just two.
Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' men got off to a good start by taking nine rounds as Terrorists on Overpass, their map pick. The second half followed the same pattern as Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon's new team took the map at 16-7.
Red Reserve have qualified for DH Valencia
As for Mirage, Red Reserve's map choice, the Swedish team managed to get out to a 7-3 lead despite losing the pistol round. From that point, the European mixture won five in a row to take a narrow 8-7 lead. However, Mikail "Maikelele" Bill and co. put on a great display in the second half, losing just four rounds before locking down the map, 16-12.
On the decider map, Inferno, Red Reserve were completely dominant as Terrorists and picked up a 12-3 half-time lead. The Swedish squad then quickly wrapped things up, clinching the map 16-8 to book their spot at DreamHack Open Valencia, which will run from July 14-16.
